Out today is "The Brutalist Bricks" from Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. TL&TP is one of my favorite bands, and this new album does not disappoint. Coming with hard, fast guitar lines and Ted Leo's great voice the songs are quick and to the point. His edgy punk songs are true to this album.

Cross Chatter Records dropped us a line via twitter to spread the word that Tempe, AZ band Small Leaks Sink Ships has made their latest single Glass Hypnotist available for download. Check the band's facebook page to have a listen to three other tracks.

Val: It's always great to get a chance to listen to new artists and appreciate the opportunity to review new music. Listening to the three latest tracks available on the band's facebook page, I was pleasantly surprised at the musical orchestration that the tracks offered. While the beats and organization of the track are satisfying the vocalization is a bit off. I like the offbeat vocals but it seems to be a bit much at the break. I look forward to hearing more from this band and catching them live if they come to Houston.

Rogue Wave New Album - Permalight

With the new album being released this month, the album in it's entirety has been released for a listen. Personally, I am having issues with their new sound. It's not that I expect them to just put out the same stuff from their previous albums, but why the new change? I enjoyed the slow and sweet sounds of 2005’s Descended Like Vultures and the deep rhythms of 2007’s Asleep At Heaven’s Gate.

It seems the switch to a more pop sound is a reflection of where they are now. It hasn't turned me off of them, just a new type of Rogue Wave to get adjusted it to.
